The Posh under 18s are two points clear at the top of the table after victory at Watford.

The Peterborough United under 18s are now two points clear at the top of the table after a 1-0 victory at Watford with Leonardo Da-Silva-Lopes bagging the only goal of the game.

Dave Robertson's men created a host of chances in the first half in a game played in atrocious conditions, but it took a strike from around 25-yards from the under 16 player to settle this contest.

Robertson said: 'We set out in our game plan to keep a clean sheet. Watford have been a free-scoring side, they have scored 35 goals in their 11 games, so we knew what a threat they would be. It was important we had a strong defensive structure. We did that very well and there were some excellent defending.

'We had a lot of possession in the first half and created a host of opportunities and the biggest disappointment for me was the fact we didn't take our chances. However, we did get the goal through Leonardo Da-Silva-Lopes who did well to support the attack after Jonny Edwards saw his shot blocked.

'I am really pleased for Leo, coming into the group and to get on the scoresheet will give him a lot of confidence. I was delighted to see that Jack Friend had been called into the first team group. He has scored regularly in the under 18s and for the development team. He is in great form and it is fantastic for our youth team players to see the pathway into the first team squad. Jack travelled to Crewe and Jack deserved that experience for his form and hard work.'

Posh entertain Watford in the reverse fixture at the Nene Park Academy on Saturday morning (11am). Posh are two points clear at the summit with a game in hand.

Posh: Henry, Humphrey, Robinson, Ward, Anderson, Adebayo-Rowling, Keating, Marshall, Da-Silva-Lopes, Edwards, Phillips.
