Posh host struggling Scunthorpe United at London Road on Saturday.
Peterborough United entertain Scunthorpe United at London Road in Sky Bet League One action on Saturday afternoon (3pm) looking to bounce back after the disappointment of the 3-2 defeat at Coventry City last weekend.
Scunthorpe, who recently appointed former Huddersfield Town manager Mark Robins to replace Russ Wilcox, are struggling near the foot of the division, but have picked up in their performance level in recent weeks and have taken four points from six on the road in their last two away fixtures.
Darren Ferguson has watched the Iron's last two fixtures and knows they can be a threat: 'I have watched their last two games and they have played well without getting the results they were probably seeking. Their front four can be very dangerous.
'I have said all along it is about what we do and in general, we have been okay. Our second half display at Coventry was obviously very disappointing, but we have addressed that and I am confident that will not happen again,' Ferguson said.
The Posh boss is without the services of captain Jack Payne who is suspended after collecting his fifth booking of the season last weekend. Kyle Vassell and Kgosi Ntlhe should return for the FA Cup clash with Carlisle United next Saturday.
Scunthorpe will not be able to field Posh loanees Bobby Olejnik and Shaun Brisley due to the terms of the loan arrangement between the two clubs.
Saturday's game will be the 2,500th fixture the club have been involved in since being elected into the Football League back in 1960. The first game was a win over Wrexham and Ferguson, a former player for the Red Dragons, insisted that it is a significant event.
'It is a great milestone and one that the club should be very proud of. Before I joined, I knew that Peterborough were a family club and now I am working for it, I can confirm those assumptions. Hopefully it will be a decent crowd and we can put on a performance and get the result befitting of the occasion,' Ferguson added.
