The new Motorpoint stand was open to supporters for the first time against Swindon Town on Saturday and officially opened by two Posh fans.

The new Motorpoint Stand at London Road made it's debut for Saturday's Sky Bet League One fixture with Swindon Town and tickets are now on sale for Friday night's clash with league leaders Bristol City (7.45pm) at www.theposhtickets.com.

Over 1,700 supporters used the new facility after it was officially opened by the first two supporters, Marc Humphries and his son Joseph. The pair were joined at the opening ceremony by Jack Baldwin, Marcus Maddison, Peter Burrow and Chief Executive Bob Symns.

Symns said: 'As you can see from the picture, the Motorpoint Stand was officially opened on Saturday by the ‘first through the turnstile’ Posh supporters, Marc Humphries and his son Joseph.

'We had thought about inviting a celebrity guest for the opening but Becks is still busy trying to buy a football team in Miami and Geldof & Bono were busy with the new Band Aid song (by the way, hope you’ve bought a copy!)

'Marc and Joseph joined Jack, Marcus, Peter Burrow and myself for the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon with Joseph asking very politely if he could “tell his friends”. So there it is, a brand spanking new stand for our supporters ... opened by our supporters, just seemed right'.
