Posh boss looking forward to FA Youth Cup tie with Notts County.
Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson believes Wednesday night's FA Youth Cup first round tie with Notts County will present a good opportunity for the youngsters at London Road to demonstrate their development.
Ferguson will be in the stands as Posh begin their adventure in the competition, which saw him reach the fourth round last term, following victories over Wolverhampton Wanderers, Hull City and this year's opponents from Meadow Lane.
Ferguson said: 'The youth team have done fine this season and you want to see a progression in their development. Obviously the main aim is to get those players into the first team group and there have been several of this squad that have tasted what it is like to be in a first team squad this season.
'Now it is a stage for them to show what they can do in a stadium environment and that is when you find out if they have the temperament to handle the occasion and I know they will be able to.
'Wednesday's game is a cup-tie and ultimately it is about winning the game and if you can get the performance alongside that then you would be happy. I am looking forward to the game, it is a good chance for me to see how they handle everything that goes with a competitive game like this and it will be a good test for them against Notts County,' Ferguson said.
County are managed by former Posh skipper Mick Halsall. It should be a decent crowd at London Road and the Posh youngsters would welcome a big crowd for the first round tie.
