Da-Silva-Lopes Stunner Seals Posh Win

12 November 2014

Substitute Leonardo Da-Silva-Lopes scored a stunning goal to seal a 2-0 win over Notts County in the FA Youth Cup.

The Peterborough United under 18s will travel to Doncaster Rovers in the second round of the FA Youth Cup after a comfortable 2-0 victory over Mick Halsall's Notts County at London Road.

Jack Friend fired over with the first chance of the game after good work from Jonny Edwards as Posh made a bright start against the Magpies.

That dominance was rewarded with the opening goal of the game on five minutes as Jonny EDWARDS fired home from 10-yards with his right-foot past the despairing dive of Monty Parkes.

Phillips tested Parkes with a curling effort from long-range after excellent work from Harry Anderson. Friend fired over from 25-yards after excellent approach play from the pacy Anderson on 13 minutes as Posh continued to threaten.

Luto fired wide of the near post on 33 minutes after excellent work from Friend, who picked out the left-wing back in space. Edwards was denied by Parkes after a forceful run as Posh continued to press.

Marshall curled a free-kick over the bar from an acute angle after Phillips was felled on 51 minutes.

The lively Anderson was denied by Parkes after another excellent run, gliding past two defenders before unleashing a low drive at goal.

County struck the upright on 74 minutes as Richards' effort from long-range beat goalkeeper Dion-Curtis Henry.

Posh made a change as the game entered the final 10 minutes with under 16 winger Leo Da-Silva-Lopes replacing the goalscorer Edwards.

As the game entered the final three minutes, Posh made it 2-0 and what a goal it was. Substitute Leonardo DA-SILVA-LOPES let fly from 30-yards and found the back of the net over goalkeeper Parkes.
