Agard On The Spot For Millers
A controversial penalty in first half stoppage time earned earned Rotherham United a 1-0 victory over Peterborough United at London Road as Kieran Agard's spot kick gave Steve Evans' side victory.Both sides were keen from the first whistle to get stuck into this Sky Bet League One encounter, but chances were few and far between in the first quarter of an hour, with only an Alex Revell header that went wide causing any alarm.
James Tavernier fired wide from 20-yards on 17 minutes after a clever switch of play from the visitors, who were playing with a lot of confidence.
Ajose was superbly denied by Collin after a sweeping Posh move that the former Manchester United man started with an excellent cross-field pass to Little.
Nugent was cautioned for tussling with Revell on 25 minutes, Pringle curling the resulting free-kick from a wide area wide of the target.
Adams curled over from just inside the box after a neat one-two as Rotherham produced some excellent football in a tight area.
Revell, who was cautioned for a foul on Nugent, came close to breaking the deadlock on 42 minutes, but his header went over the crossbar after an excellent Tavernier cross from the right.
Deep into first half stoppage time, the visitors opened the scoring as Nugent was penalised for a foul in the box and one-time Posh loanee Kieran AGARD stepped up to convert from the spot.
Darren Ferguson made a double change at the break with Grant McCann and Danny Swanson introduced as McQuoid and the cautioned Nugent making way.
Bobby Olejnik produced a superb stop with his legs to deny Nicky Adams on the hour mark as the former Crawley man was left in acres of space.
Assombalonga headed a McCann set-piece towards goal on 65 minutes, but after his initial effort was blocked, he fired the resulting volley over the bar.
Lloyd Isgrove replaced Rowe on 74 minutes as Posh shuffled their pack. Little saw a header deflected over the top while Alcock fired over from the resulting corner kick on 82 minutes.
