First Capital Connect have put on extra trains to help supporters travelling to Wembley on Sunday.

Train operator First Capital Connect is planning extra services and increased capacity to help Posh fans travel to Wembley this weekend.

First Capital Connect (FCC) said it will add extra train services and increase capacity on others to help Peterborough United fans travelling to and from London for the Johnstones Paint Trophy Final on Sunday, March 30.

Of these ‘strengthened’ and extra services, a small number will consist of 12-car trains which FCC normally doesn’t operate at the weekends.

Fans are also being encouraged to take advantage of FCC’s off-peak tickets, where a return from Peterborough to London King’s Cross is priced at £18 – and this can be further discounted with ‘GroupSave’ an offer where groups of three or four people can travel for the price of two.

FCC Customer Service Director Keith Jipps said: “We are delighted to have been able to add extra trains and lengthen others to cater for all the Peterborough fans travelling to London that day.

“Our super off-peak tickets are fantastic value for those making the journey and can be discounted furthermore with our GroupSave scheme for those travelling in groups.

“We wish Peterborough all the best in the final and hope all the fans have an enjoyable day out.”

A Peterborough United spokesman said:“It is excellent news to hear that First Capital Connect is providing extra trains from Peterborough to London to help our supporters reach Wembley. With the game kicking off at 2pm and taking place on a Sunday, our supporters will be delighted to hear of this extended service.”
