New signing Jon Taylor is keen to repay the faith shown in him by manager Darren Ferguson.

Peterborough United fought off competition from a host of clubs to complete the signing of highly-rated winger Jon Taylor from Shrewsbury Town.

The 21-year-old put pen to paper on a three-year contract at London Road on Wednesday after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee.

Taylor, who spent five years with Shrewsbury Town, cannot wait to get started with his new club and is desperate to repay the faith shown in him by boss Darren Ferguson.

'I am really pleased to be a Posh player and cannot wait to get started. I met the manager face to face and he had clearly done a lot of research and made me feel very wanted. I feel I can learn at this football club and develop and that is what I am looking for.

'The club has a good history of developing young players and that is a big attraction, as is the chance of helping a club have a successful season. I was part of a side that was relegated last term and that was bitterly disappointing for everyone at the club.

'I want to be part of a promotion push and hopefully help Peterborough get back to the Championship where I feel the club belongs,' the winger said.
