Darren Ferguson admits that the first week will provide a lot of travelling for his squad.
Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has admitted the first week of the campaign is not 'ideal' with Posh travelling to Rochdale on the opening day of the campaign followed by a trek to Portsmouth in the first round of the Capital One Cup.
'Four hours travelling on the opening day followed by four hours travelling on the Tuesday night is certainly not ideal, but you have to play these games at some point in the season.
'Rochdale were promoted last season and they will provide a tough test, while the two home games that follow against MK Dons and Sheffield United are big games against sides that will want to challenge for promotion.
'To be honest though, it doesn't really matter too much when the fixtures are, you have to play everyone at some point,' Ferguson said.
