Zakuani praises team spirit in the camp
The Peterborough United squad took a well earned afternoon of rest from their intense training schedule on Thursday, giving the player’s time to reflect on the hard work they have done this week in the scorching heat of the Algarve.
Despite the tired legs everyone remains jovial and upbeat and the old/new boy Gabriel Zakuani believes it’s because the squad have never been closer.
“The team spirit here at the moment is the best I’ve known for a very long time. All the lads are getting on very well and the new lads have settled in straight away. Like I keep saying, I just can’t speak highly enough of the lads and to be honest there has been a real family feel about the place.”
Zakuani emphasised the importance of having a pre-season training camp.
“It can only be a good thing. The manager has been very relaxed and everyone has clicked together. These pre-season training camps away are very important because it brings everyone closer together. We have the Chairman around the place as well as Bob Symns (Chief Executive) and Barry Fry (Director of Football) so it has been good for everyone to get closer and feel like a team and like I said before we feel like a family.”
The players are due to have an extended double session on Friday before returning back to the UK Saturday afternoon to prepare for Tuesday nights pre season friendly against Wolves.
