Two goals after the break by Britt Assombalonga and Kyle Vassell earned Posh an impressive win over Brighton.

Championship side Brighton and Hove Albion were beaten 2-1 at London Road by an impressive Peterborough United side who created a host of chances in front of goal against their opponents with Britt Assombalonga and the in-form Kyle Vassell netting.

It was the visitors who opened the scoring at a sweltering London Road on six minutes as Shamir FENELON collected a neat touch from Chris O'Grady and squeezed the ball through the legs of goalkeeper Ben Alnwick.

Britt Assombalonga headed wide at the near post  following an excellent right-wing cross from Kenny McEvoy on 12 minutes. McEvoy was close to finding the back of the net on 21 minutes after an Anderson shot was deflected into his path, but the Tottenham Hotspur loanee saw his effort crash back off the crossbar.

McEvoy was providing a steady stream of excellent wing play on the right and his low cross eventually found Washington who was superbly denied by goalkeeper Casper Ankergren.

Bruno headed wide at the far post after Alnwick missed his punch following a deep centre as Brighton threatened a second goal on 34 minutes. At the other end, Assombalonga headed over after yet another superb delivery from McEvoy.

On 51 minutes, Anderson tested goalkeeper Ankergren from range with the Seagulls shot-stopper making a routine stop.

On 56 minutes, Posh levelled the scores as a corner kick from Jon Taylor was powered past Ankergren by Britt ASSOMBALONGA who rose highest to plant a header into the corner.

Moments after a group of mass substitutions, Posh got their noses in front as a low cross from Kane Ferdinand was turned into the corner at the near post by Kyle VASSELL, who continues his rich vein of goalscoring form.

Day denied LuaLua's driven free-kick on 69 minutes after a foul was given on the edge of the box by referee Mr Woolmer. Fenelon tried his luck from distance, but Day was untroubled.

Day denied the lively LuaLua as the game headed into stoppage time.
