Darren Ferguson has thanked Tottenham Hotspur for their co-operation in allowing Kenny McEvoy to make the switch to London Road and believes his new signing will excite the fans.
Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has thanked Tottenham Hotspur for their assistance in making the loan signing of Kenny McEvoy to be completed.
The 19-year-old has signed a season-long youth loan and will play 30 minutes in the pre-season friendly with Brighton and Hove Albion at London Road on Saturday.
Ferguson said: 'Kenny is an exciting player, he is full of pace and energy. It is a big season for him, this is the next step in his development. I have to thank Tottenham for all their help, they have been easy to deal with. Once we got their interest, we kept it there and they were more than happy for him to come here.
'I think he will excite people. He is a winger who can play either side. He is an intelligent player, he understands the game tactically and can play in numerous roles. I have had a good chat with him, he is raring to go.
'He will play 30 minutes on Saturday. He is a bit behind, he has only played 45 minutes so far this pre-season, but we will get him up to speed. I am pleased to get him on board, he fits the profile, everyone has seen we have that in abundance and we want to keep adding to that,' Ferguson said.
The Posh boss has also confirmed that Joe Newell has broken his toe and will be out for between four to six weeks. 'He will be out for a period of time, it is really unfortunate. He got an injury last pre-season and unfortunately it has happened again. There is nothing we can do about it, we want him to come back ready because it is an important season for the boy.'
Ferguson has confirmed that Erhun Oztumer and Jon Taylor should feature on Saturday, while Nathaniel Mendez-Laing is expected to train on Monday after recovering from a sore Achilles.
