Conor Washington has passed a medical and penned a three-and-a-half year deal at London Road.

Peterborough United are pleased to confirm that striker Conor Washington has passed a medical and penned a three-and-a-half year contract at London Road.

Washington will go straight into the squad for Wednesday night's scheduled Sky Bet League One clash at Sheffield United.

The 21-year-old, who scored over 60 goals at St. Ives in as many appearances, trained with his new team-mates on Tuesday. Striker Shaun Jeffers has joined Newport as part of the transfer.

Manager Darren Ferguson said: 'Conor is a player that has good pace, he can play on the shoulder and I think we needed that variation. Britt can run in behind, but Nicky and Lee and to a certain extent, Kyle like to drop off the front man and Conor gives us that different option.

'He was desperate to come to us, he wanted to sign and I am pleased to have him on board. He will go straight into the squad for Wednesday's game. He has played a lot of games this season so he doesn't need time to get up to speed.'

Washington will wear the number 24.
