Kyle Vassell scored a hat-trick as the Posh Development team beat the Strachan Foundation.

The Peterborough United development team were 3-1 winners over the Strachan Foundation on Wednesday afternoon with striker Kyle Vassell bagging a hat-trick.

The former Bishop Stortford front man opened the scoring with a neat finish and doubled the lead after collecting a superb raking pass from midfielder Tom Conlon before rounding the goalkeeper.

Early in the second half, the visitors halved the deficit with a close-range finish, but Vassell completed his hat-trick when he used his strength to out-muscle the defender and fire low past the goalkeeper.

Substitute Jonathan Edwards, midfielder Ollie Luto and defender Peter Grant all went close to extending the advantage while Luke O'Reilly tipped over a cross-shot at the other end.

Posh: O'Reilly, Carter, Burgess, Grant, Marshall, Conlon, Trialist, Luto, Coulson, Vassell, Stewart. Subs used: Azille-Moore, Longa-Longa, Duggan, Edwards.
