Washington Penalty Secures Win

19 February 2014

Conor Washington's second half spot-kick earned the development team a 1-0 success.

Recent signing Conor Washington scored the only goal of the game as the Peterborough United Development team beat Hull City 1-0 at the Nene Park Academy.

Washington converted from the spot in the second half after Tom Conlon had been felled in the area to secure a deserved success.

Posh had chances to extend the lead, the most notable falling to Daniel Kearns, but he was denied by the goalkeeper from close-range.

Kgosi Ntlhe saw a deflected header saved, while Joe Newell nearly capped a fine individual run with a close-range goal, but was denied by a combination of goalkeeper and a last ditch tackle.

Jack Baldwin was excellent in his hour-long performance at the heart of the Posh back four alongside Ricardo Santos.

Posh: Day, Burgess, Santos, Baldwin (sub Marshall), Ntlhe, Conlon, Anderson (sub Coulson), Newell, Kearns, Washington (sub Friend), Carthey.
