Two late goals earn Posh a deserved success against Leyton Orient.
Peterborough United left it late, but two goals in as many minutes secured a deserved 2-1 success at Leyton Orient.Danny Swanson sent a speculative volley wide of the target inside the opening few minutes. Swanson also saw a low left-foot shot saved by Jalal after an excellent run from the Scotsman.
Dean Cox saw a shot blocked and then deflected wide as this Sky Bet League One fixture began in open fashion. Ajose saw a volley saved by Jalal while Rowe saw a powerful header from a Little cross saved.
Posh were screaming for a penalty on 27 minutes as Assombalonga was first fouled and then when Ajose cut inside, Cuthbert handled on the floor. Nothing given by referee Mr Probert.
Dean Cox was a whisker away from breaking the deadlock for Orient on 37 minutes, but his controlled volley smacked against the post before rebounding to safety.
On 41 minutes, David Mooney curled an effort from 25-yards wide of the far post as the home side ended the first half strongly with the wind in their faces.
On 50 minutes, Rowe saw a 25-yard shot beaten behind by Jalal as the Posh skipper found some room in the middle of the park.
Rowe and Ajose both saw shots blocked after a patient build-up from Darren Ferguson's men as the game reached the hour mark.
Moments later, Posh were a whisker away from breaking the deadlock as first Assombalonga was superbly denied by the fingertips of Jalal who tipped the ball onto the post and then as the ball rebounded to Rowe's left-foot you expected the net to bulge, but he fired wide.

On 69 minutes, Orient got the breakthrough as a free-kick from Cox was met by MOONEY who planted an unchallenged header past goalkeeper Olejnik.
Ajose was inches away from levelling straight away, but his right-foot shot shaved the outside of the post.
Conor Washington was introduced for Payne as Posh changed to a 4-3-3 formation. Swanson and Rowe both curled free-kicks wide of the target as the game entered the final 10 minutes.
On 88 minutes, Posh drew themselves level as a free-kick from Alcock was met by Brisley and his header was converted unchallenged at the back post by the head of ASSOMBALONGA.
Incredibly in stoppage time, Posh grabbed a deserved winner as ROWE fired home from just inside the area beating former Posh goalkeeper Jalal.
