Peterborough United Football Club are delighted to announce that we have entered into a partnership with the Manor School Sports College in Raunds to provide a Football Academy for students in Northamptonshire. The Academy will provide a two-year course run in partnership with the football club. Students will play in a variety of competitions including the Football Conference and the British College League alongside cup competitions and also have the opportunity to train and play with Posh.
Students are fully integrated into the sixth form with successful students studying a BTEC Level 3 in Sport Development Coaching and Fitness (equivalent of two A-Levels) and combining this opportunity to study other A-Levels and BTECs available. They will also receive full-time football coaching from UEFA Qualified coaching staff.
Students will also have an opportunity to train on state of the art 3G Astro-Turf pitch and fully equipped gym and have access to a qualified physiotherapist throughout their two-year scholarship.
Academy Manager Dave Robertson said: 'It is another strong partnership for the football club and an opportunity to work with more players from the Northamptonshire area, who hopefully one day can progress and kick on and play for the football club while also obtaining a full quota of qualifications that they need to help them in life and beyond football.
'Mark Peters is a former Peterborough United defender and is the holder of a UEFA 'A' License and it is great that he has joined our programme. The players will get a very strong education from the football philosophy that we have at Peterborough United and a strong education that will be provided by the Manor School. They have an excellent history of developing the educational skills of the individuals at the school.'
