Jack Friend scored twice as the Posh under 18s beat local rivals Northampton Town 6-1 at Nene Park Academy.
The Peterborough United under 18s ran riot against the Cobblers with Friend and Harry Anderson both netting a brace as Dave Robertson's men kept their chances of winning the league alive.
Posh actually fell behind to their local rivals, but responded with two quick-fire goals from Tobi Adebayo-Rowling and Anderson to go into the break in control.
Roberstson's men had several chances to extend that advantage before Friend did make it 3-1 just after the interval.
Central midfielder Joe Hood made it 4-1 with a well-taken strike before Friend extended the lead to five. Friend had a chance to complete his hat-trick before the scoring was completed by Anderson just before the end.
Academy manager Dave Robertson said: 'It was another good performance following on from the 1-1 draw with Luton Town, but the pleasing aspect of this display was how clinical the boys were in front of goal. They were ruthless when they got into the positions and I am delighted for them.'
You will be able to watch highlights of the win on the club's YouTube channel in the next few days. To assist with the production of this service, the football club are looking to erect some scaffolding at Nene Park Academy for a temporary gantry. This will improve the footage for the players' individual clips from training sessions.
