Choir to sing carols at Saturday's Sky Bet League One fixture with Preston North End.
Peterborough United Football Club are delighted to welcome members of the Cathedral Choir to the ABAX Stadium on Saturday and hope that all our supporters enjoy their festive carols ahead of kick-off and during the half-time interval.
Peterborough Cathedral and the Posh have more in common than you might think.
Natural talent honed by daily training, teamwork and readiness to give a superb performance when it matters – footballers and Cathedral choristers have a lot in common!
The Peterborough Cathedral choristers have taken a break from for all the Christmas services and concerts to sing carols before the match today. They have been looking forward to this ever since they enjoyed a “back stage” tour of the ABAX Stadium in September.
Since then Christian Burgess, who is very interested in history and studied it at university, was treated to a guided tour of the Cathedral by the Dean, the Very Revd Charles Taylor.
This included a quick dash up the tower to see if he could see the stadium and to take in the sights of Peterborough from above. Over a cup of tea afterwards, Posh press officer Phil Adlam asked whether the Cathedral Choir could sing the soundtrack for the football club’s version of “Real Love” as featured on the John Lewis advert. Within days they’d made the recording and the video was complete. Job done!
Posh supporters are more than welcome at Peterborough Cathedral over Christmas, whether for a service on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, or simply to visit as a tourist over the Christmas period. Please visit the website at www.peterborough-cathedral.org.uk.
From all at Peterborough Cathedral, we wish you a very happy and blessed Christmas.
