Posh sign Middlesbrough Christian Burgess on a one-month loan deal.

Peterborough United have completed the loan signing of Middlesbrough centre back Christian Burgess with the 22-year-old eligible to be named in the squad for the fixture with Sheffield United on Tuesday evening.

Burgess spent last season on-loan with Hartlepool United and partnered Jack Baldwin at the heart of the Pools defence. He scored his first senior goal in a Johnstone's Paint Trophy victory over Bradford City in September 2013.

Burgess began his career at Arsenal's academy and after he was released he went on to play with the youth and reserves teams at non-league Bishop's Stortford before deciding to study history at the University of Birmingham.

Whilst at university, Burgess had trials at West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Middlesbrough. He impressed at Boro and he signed a two-year contract in July 2012.

Christian will wear the number 21 shirt during his stay.
