Goalkeeper Joe Day has joined Sky Bet League Two side Newport County on a one-month loan deal.
Peterborough United shot-stopper Joe Day has joined Justin Edinburgh's Newport County on a one-month loan deal with the former Rushden and Diamonds man linking up with his new team-mates on Thursday.
Day will get much needed game-time during his stay at Rodney Parade. Goalkeeping Coach Jimmy Walker has signed non contract forms and will be named on the substitutes bench in Day and Olejnik's absence.
Darren Ferguson explained: 'Ben has come in and done very well, touch wood, and we felt Bobby had to go out and get games. Just as important, I feel Joe needs to go and get games because he hasn't had any sustained time at a decent level playing.
'We feel that Newport County will offer Joe a good chance to play. He will get five or six games. We will get DVDs and reports on the games. It does run a little bit of a risk because I would put my goalkeeping coach Jimmy Walker on the substitutes bench.
'If I was to get an injury in a game, I feel Jimmy's experience would get him through an injury and then we would get someone else in on-loan to play. That is how we are going to play it,' Ferguson said.
