The Peterborough United development side overcame local rivals Cambridge United 4-1 at the Abbey Stadium on Tuesday evening with Gavin Strachan's men playing some excellent football against the U's.
Posh were always in control of the fixture and could have scored more goals against their Cambridgeshire rivals.
Shaun Brisley, Nathaniel MendezpLaing, Joe Newell and Jaanai Gordon were on target for Posh with Pugh scoring a consolation goal for the home side.
Strachan was pleased with his side's performance: 'We played okay in the first half, but didn't really press the ball well enough. We were still a threat and always the better side and in the second half we controlled the game.
'We got in their faces, kept building pressure and passed the ball very well on a slick surface. You could tell that it was a Peterborough United side, the movement and the way that we played. I was happy with them. The senior players showed a great attitude,' Strachan said.
Posh: Day, Richens, Brisley, Grant (sub trialist), Marshall, Anderson, Newell (sub Coulson), Ferdinand, Brown, Mendez-Laing (sub Conlon), Gordon.
