Manager Darren Ferguson insists fans have an intergral role to play this season.

Peterborough United entertain Shrewsbury Town at London Road on Saturday afternoon with chairman Darragh MacAnthony confirming this week that if the crowd is over 8,000, he will lower the prices for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie with Dagenham and Redbridge to JUST £4.

Manager Darren Ferguson has been quick to praise the supporters for their backing so far this season and insists they have a big role to play, both on Saturday and for the rest of the campaign.

'The fans have been first class both home and away this season and we will need them for the rest of the season that is for sure. They really do make a difference and I am sure it will be a good atmosphere on Saturday when we face Shrewsbury.

'I am aware of the chairman's 'Target 8K' and it is a great incentive. We are in good form, we have won the last five games and kept three clean sheets, but know we need to improve. We have been working hard on the training field and everyone is looking forward to what will be another difficult game.

'Shrewsbury play good football, they have a number of threats and in the boss Graham Turner, they have one of the most experienced managers in the game. Graham signed me for Wolverhampton Wanderers and I have a lot of respect for him,' Ferguson said.
