Posh held to a goal-less draw by determined Sheffield United side at London Road.

Peterborough United were denied top spot in Sky Bet League One after being held to a 0-0 draw by Sheffield United at London Road.

Michael Bostwick and Conor Coady traded shots at either end as both sides made a fairly reserved start to this Sky Bet League One encounter.

A swift counter attack from Darren Ferguson's men nearly produced the first goal of the afternoon as Taylor fed Swanson, but his low left-footed effort was saved by the legs of Long.

On 25 minutes, Barnett headed a Swanson corner kick wide of the near post. On 33 minutes, Posh created the clearest opportunity of the evening so far as the ball fell kindly to Rowe on the edge of the area, but he saw his left-foot drive go inches past the post.

On 37 minutes, Lyle Taylor smacked a fierce drive against the crossbar from range before Febian Brandy dragged a right-foot shot from 12-yards past the far post.

Bostwick tested long with a well-worked free-kick on 43 minutes after Taylor was felled 30-yards from goal.

Darren Ferguson made his first change on 63 minutes as Nathaniel Mendez-Laing replaced Swanson. Marlon King replaced Taylor on 71 minutes as the Blades made their first change.

Britt Assombalonga replaced McCann on 74 minutes as Posh changed formation. Simon Lappin swept a last-minute free-kick wide of the target as Sheffield United came close to a last-gasp winner.

Assombalonga saw a last minute shot deflected behind for a corner before Lappin was denied by Olejnik.
