Peterborough United travel to Vale Park on Saturday (3pm) in Sky Bet League One action.

Peterborough United face Port Vale at Vale Park on Saturday afternoon (3pm) knowing a victory could take Darren Ferguson's men to the top of the Sky Bet League One table.

Posh go into the game on the back of a 2-1 victory over Brentford in the second round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, while Vale were beaten by Rochdale in the same competition.

Ferguson welcomes back Tommy Rowe to the squad, but a doubt remains over the fitness of centre back Gabriel Zakuani who sustained an injury in the first half of the victory over the Bees. Shaun Brisley and Nathaniel Knight-Percival are fighting it out to replace Zakuani should he not make it.

The Posh boss said: 'Gabi was sore on Wednesday, but he felt a lot better on Thursday and I am hopeful he will be okay. I have good options in that area of the pitch though with Shaun and Nathaniel.

'Tommy was always going to have a bit of a rest on Tuesday and he will come back into the squad. I have a big decision to make on team selection, but I know in my mind what I am going to go with and the players will know Friday.

'Port Vale have had a mixed bag of results over the course of the season, but in recent weeks they have had an excellent run and they are a good side with a good mixture of youth and experience,' Ferguson said.

Posh are still without the services of Lee Tomlin, so Paul Taylor will continue. Ferguson confirmed Tyrone Barnett will return to the starting line-up to partner Britt Assombalonga in attack.
