Posh youngster Robert Duggan has been named in the Republic of Ireland under 17 squad for a forthcoming qualifying tournament.
Young Peterborough United midfielder Robert Duggan has been named in the Republic of Ireland under 17 squad for the forthcoming under 17 UEFA European Championship Qualifying tournament to be held in Yerevan, Armemia from the 19th until the 31st October.
Duggan will report for international duty on Saturday 19th October. Duggan is the fifth Posh player to be selected for his country already this season and Academy Manager Dave Robertson is hoping for more.
'It is fantastic for Robert to be named in the squad. It is going to be an interesting competition for him. Within the tournament, they will be facing England, which is a game that he is very much relishing.
'Everyone at the Academy are delighted for him. It is a fantastic achievement for him. In the last six weeks, we have had five different players called into international squads. We have high hopes for more.
'I have been contacted by quite a few national associations about our players eligibility so it is great to see they are being recognised by their countries. It was great to see Ben Keating play for Wales in the Victory Shield against England on Sky Sports last week.
'I am thrilled that Kgosi Nthle has been called into the senior South African squad for the game against Morocco. He is still very young and it will be a great experience for him,' Robertson said.
