Darren Ferguson's Peterborough United suffer fourth successive league defeat as Stevenage earn narrow win.

Peterborough United slipped to a fourth successive Sky Bet League One defeat as Stevenage clung on with 10-men to frustrate Darren Ferguson's men at London Road.

Lee Tomlin was shown a yellow card for dissent on 11 minutes, moments after he saw a shot blocked from 25-yards.

The deadlock was broken in the 19th minute and it was a superb strike from Lucas ATKINS, who cut inside on his left-foot and curled a fine effort into the top corner past the despairing dive of goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik.

Craig Alcock dragged a shot wide of the near post at the other end as Posh tried to make an immediate response to the disappointment of falling behind.

Alcock limped out of proceedings on 28 minutes with Kgosi Ntlhe coming on to replace him at left-back.

Day produced a superb stop to deny Ephraim on 33 minutes, preventing the low shot from going into the back of the net with his legs.

On the stroke of half-time, Mark Little saw a shot go wide of the near post after a good burst into the area.

Ephraim saw a shot blocked after good work from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing before referee Mike Jones gave Stevenage a free-kick. Morais saw a right-footed effort glide straight into the arms of Olejnik on 58 minutes.

Tommy Rowe struck the top of the crossbar on 59 minutes after a Little cross was only half cleared by the Stevenage defence. On 64 minutes, the visitors were reduced to 10-men as Smith was shown a second yellow card for obstructing Ephraim as he raced clear.

Posh made a double change on 70 minutes with Tyrone Barnett and Shaun Jeffers introduced into the fray.
