Posh Relegated After Late Heartbreak

A last minute goal from Mile Jedinik condemned Peterborough United to relegation after a topsy-turvy day across the Championship and at Selhurst Park.

Goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik made a point blank save on 10 minutes to deny Delaney and then somehow Grant McCann diverted a shot from Glenn Murray over the crossbar...

Dwight Gayle was denied by Speroni at the other end before Murray headed an in-swinging corner over the bar. A fine one-two from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Lee Tomlin ended with the latter firing wide of the target as Posh came close to the breakthrough.

The deadlock was broken on the half hour and what a goal it was. Lee TOMLIN turned his man just inside the Palace half, skipped past three challenges and rifled a stunning shot past Speroni and into the back of the net.

A Mendez-Laing cross just eluded both Gayle and Pritchard in the box on 40 minutes. On the stroke of half-time, Posh had a nightmare as Zakuani, who had got away with what appeared to be a handful, then clipped Gabbidon in the box and MURRAY stepped up to convert from the spot.

Bostwick fired a 30-yard free-kick over the bar minutes into the second half as the rain began to pour at Selhurst Park.

Rowe produced a stunning goal-line clearance to deny Murray who was convinced he had scored from six-yards after excellent work from Zaha.

On 64 minutes, Posh got their noses in front as Nathaniel MENDEZ-LAING cut inside on his left-foot and curled a shot past the despairing dive of goalkeeper Speroni. He should have perhaps saved it. Who cares.

Palace made a double change three minutes later with Kevin Phillips and Jonathan Williams introduced by Ian Holloway. McCann saw a free-kick tipped over by Speroni on 77 minutes.

Murray fired over on the volley from close-range moments after Huddersfield levelled against Barnsley in a mad 30 seconds. On 83 minutes, Palace got themselves level as the ball fell for Kevin PHILLIPS, the one man you don't want it to, and he fired into the top corner past a stranded Olejnik.

On 89 minutes, Palace got themselves in front as JEDINIK headed home a free-kick past Olejnik.
