Peterborough United striker Dwight Gayle has won the npower Championship Player of the Month for December.

The 22-year-old who scored in every game and completed his move from Dagenham & Redbridge. A brilliant long-range opener against Middlesbrough and a delightful hooked finish against Bolton Wanderers were the pick of his seven goals in six December matches.

The Player of the Month panel sees Emma Collins joined by Wolves legend Don Goodman, BBC Sport’s Mark Clemmit and The Football League’s Head of Communications, John Nagle.

Steve Bruce won the Manager of the Month and Alan Curbishley commented: 'Steve Bruce masterminded an unbeaten run in December through some potentially very difficult fixtures and in doing so, took Hull City into an automatic promotion place.”

Commenting from npower, Sponsorship Manager Emma Collins added; 'It was clearly a very happy Christmas for both winners. I’m sure Hull City fans will be looking for more of the same to really add weight to their promotion hopes, while Peterborough United have clearly unearthed a natural goal scorer in Gayle.'
