MacDonald Brace In Posh Draw

20 February 2013

Shaq MacDonald scored twice in the 2-2 draw with Stevenage on Wednesday afternoon.

Teenager Shaq MacDonald scored twice as a Peterborough United developmental team drew 2-2 with Stevenage at the training ground on Wednesday afternoon.

The 17-year-old put Posh ahead with a well taken left-footed effort and re-established the lead with a powerful finish from close-range in an entertaining encounter played in bitterly cold conditions.

Goalkeeper Joe Day made a host of decent stops including from the penalty spot after Kgosi Ntlhe, making his first start after a long injury layoff, was penalised by the referee for a foul.

Nthle came through 45 minutes unscathed as he continues his comeback from an ankle injury. Craig Alcock played 90 minutes after a recent spell on the sidelines with a knee injury while Jack Payne was excellent in the middle of the park.

Joe Newell twice went close to a winner after the visitors had equalised late on while Jevani Brown was denied by a superb stop by the Stevenage goalkeeper.

Posh: Day, Richens, Knight-Percival, Brisley, Ntlhe (sub Anderson), Payne, Newell, Brown, Alcock, MacDonald, Swanson (sub Coulson).
