Posh duo join volunteers in helping make Christmas easier for Peterborough shoppers.

A squad of Thorpe Hall Hospice volunteers, led by Posh footballers Britt Assombalonga and Gabriel Zakuani, are set to help make Christmas that bit easier for Peterborough shoppers.

Dozens of volunteers are brandishing sheets of wrapping paper and rolls of sticky tape in preparation for the annual Christmas wrap in Peterborough’s Queensgate shopping centre.

The Posh pair will wrap the presents shoppers have bought in return for a donation to the Thorpe Hall Capital Appeal.

Regional fundraiser Alison Toomey said: 'No gift is too big or too small to wrap – we love a challenge. As long as we get a good donation, we’ll happily wrap anything Queensgate customers have bought.

'And while the donations will all help boost our appeal fund, the fact the presents are wrapped means customers get to go home and put their feet up with a mince pie instead of battling with wrapping paper and ribbon.'

The wrapping materials have all been donated by Queensgate and the volunteers are all giving their time to help the appeal.

The money raised will go towards the £6 million appeal to fund the building of a new hospice at Thorpe Hall, in Longthorpe, Peterborough to serve the region.
