Posh v Crawley: Match Preview

29 August 2013

Posh host Crawley Town at London Road on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

Peterborough United entertain Crawley Town at London Road on Saturday afternoon (3pm) knowing that a victory will enter the current side into the record books.

A seventh win out of seven will be the club's best start to a Football League campaign, but boss Darren Ferguson insists that Saturday's opponents will provide a tough test for his in-form team.

'A lot of the players watched Crawley against Wolverhampton Wanderers on television recently and they played very well in that game. We have worked hard on the training field and watched a lot of video clips of Crawley this week so we know that they are a good side who like to pass the ball.

'They have had a mixed bag of results, but they have a young manager who has done well in Ritchie Barker and there are three former Posh players in their ranks so they will be looking to do well.

'For us, it is about starting the game at the right tempo. Against Reading we made an excellent start and got the early goal, which set us up. In previous home games against Oldham and Swindon the opposition have made it difficult for us and it is about us breaking Crawley down,' Ferguson said.

Posh have no injury worries to contend with ahead of the fixture with Joe Newell now fit again after a hand injury. He is expected to feature in the development side next week in a friendly fixture.

'I have a difficult decision to make. The four players that came into the starting line-up did very well against Reading, but I know in my mind what I am going to do and the players will know on Friday,' Ferguson said.

Saturday's game is a Category 'B' fixture. Not only that, but if you purchase ahead of the day, you can obtain a bigger discount, so what are you waiting for? Log on to www.theposhtickets.com, ring the 24-hour hotline 0844 847 1934 or come down to the London Road box Office and get your tickets!
