Shaquille McDonald scored yet another hat-trick as under 18s beat Southend United.
In-form front man Shaquille McDonald continued his unbelievable goalscoring form with yet another hat-trick as the Peterborough United under 18s beat Southend United 3-0.
McDonald, who recently signed a professional contract at London Road, scored the 'perfect' hat-trick, a header, a left-foot and a right-foot finish as the Shrimpers were put to the sword. Matt Carter made the first with an excellent cross which was headed home by McDonald before the striker controlled a Conlon pass before firing low into the bottom corner.
The third goal came on the counter attack with Lawlor's long pass collected by McDonald before clinically finding the back of the net.
Shrimpers boss Ricky Duncan said after the display: 'It was the best forward display we've come up against this season.' Posh chief Gavin Strachan was also full of praise for the striker's performance, but was also pleased with the overall victory.
'It was a very professional performance and we could have won by a few more to be honest. We controlled it for long periods and restricted them to just one shot, which they hit the bar from. Shaq was obviously excellent, but there were some good performances elsewhere from Dan Lawlor and Matt Carter. Matt has continued to progress, he has done well at left-back and we were very pleased.'
Posh: Lynch, Lawlor, Burgess, Sage, Carter, Conlon (sub Coulson), Anderson, Brown, McDonald, Gordon, Carthey. Subs unused: Ward, Wright, Marshall.
