The family of Tommy Robson have issued a statement as he recovers in hospital.
'Tommy Robson is touched by the wealth of good wishes he has received from so many dear friends.However, whilst we are delighted that he is making progress, he remains critically ill, and we would ask everyone to understand that he will not be allowed visitors (other than immediate family and a couple of lifelong friends) whilst Tommy remains in hospital.
When Tommy is home and feeling stronger he will be delighted to see you. Please understand there is still a long road ahead and whilst it must be really hard to feel so distant, we absolutely must put Tommy first.'
