Posh have signed highly-rated West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino.

Peterborough United have signed highly-rated West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino on a three-month loan deal, subject to paperwork being completed, with the England under 20 international expected to go straight into the squad for the fixture with Barnsley.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed two successful loan spells at Northampton Town and Brentford, scoring 10 goals in 22 appearances for the two clubs. He has not only been prolific at club level, he has scored 14 goals for his country as he has progressed from under 16 level to the under 20s.

The front man will remain at London Road until the beginning of January 2013.

Darren Ferguson said: 'Saido is a player that we have watched for a considerable amount of time. He has been out on loan at a number of clubs and he is a good player. Any manager would say the same, you need as many good players in the building as possible.

'He is a striker with good movement and he has a good goalscoring record. We are fortunate that West Brom have allowed him to join us. I tried to get him last week as he was involved in the first team, but they feel it is the right time for him to come out on loan.

'He is here until January and we will assess it then, but I am pleased to have him on board,' Ferguson said.
