Grow a moustache in support of mens health.

The Football League and its Official Charity Partner for the 2012/13 season, Prostate Cancer UK, are calling on male supporters to grow a moustache next month in support of Movember (the month formerly known as November), the moustache growing charity event. Each season, Movember raises awareness and millions of pounds for men’s health with Prostate Cancer UK being Movember’s prime beneficiary partner in the UK.

With the support of its 72 clubs, The Football League and Prostate Cancer UK are aiming to raise both money and awareness of prostate cancer and promote a positive message for men’s health. One in nine men will develop prostate cancer at some stage in their life and every hour someone dies from the disease.

Fans of each of The League’s 72 clubs are being encouraged to sign up to play their part in their club’s own Movember ‘team’, with a challenge to see which set of supporters can sign-up the most fans and raise the most money. Last season fans from across profession al football raised more than £50,000 and the challenge is on to smash that figure.

Football League staff will also be joining in the fund raising effort and its Head of Communications, John Nagle said: 'This is a great opportunity for supporters to make a real difference in the fight against prostate cancer. I look forward to seeing the stands filling up with more and more mo’s as the month goes on.'

To get involved, all supporters have to do is:
- Register their top lip at www.movember.com
- Join their club’s fundraising team using the search bar on the site
- Ask their friends and family to take part and grow their club’s squad.
- Get growing their Mo from November 1
- Encourage their friends and family to support their efforts by donating money.

Female supporters are also encouraged to play their part by convincing male friends and family to take part (and by re-assuring them that a moustache will really suit them).
