Lee Tomlin's goal cancelled out as Posh record first draw of the season.
Peterborough United recorded their first draw of the season as Lee Tomlin's goal was cancelled out by a DJ Campbell penalty kick in the second period at Portman Road.Darren Ferguson’s men got the game underway at a wet Portman Road and created the first half chance of the game as Shaun Brisley tried to divert a header goal-wards, but Henderson, who had dashed from his line in a panic, got lucky and blocked the effort.
Posh opened the scoring on eight minutes and Ipswich will be very unhappy with the defending that led to the goal, the back four parting like the Red Sea to allow Lee TOMLIN to race clear and slot past goalkeeper Henderson.
Neither side were looking particularly comfortable in possession and chances were at a premium, only a sharp turn and shot from Saido Berahino on 42 minutes worked either goalkeeper before the half-time interval.
New signing Dwight Gayle replaced the injured Berahino on 52 minutes, a blow with a game on Tuesday night at Charlton Athletic.
Ipswich drew themselves level on the hour mark as Tomlin was adjudged to have felled Lee Martin in the box and DJ CAMPBELL stepped up and coolly slotted home the penalty kick.
Tomlin was denied a second by a smart Henderson stop at the other end after beating the offside trap as the game began to open up for the first time.
DJ Campbell then missed a sitter to complete the turnaround, firing wide at the far post after a low cross from Bradley Orr.
Mark Little was next to try his luck, cutting inside from the left and attempting a curler with his weaker foot that went over the crossbar.
Daryl Murphy replaced goal-scorer Campbell on 76 minutes as Mick McCarthy once again shuffled his pack. Olejnik made a good stop to deny Murphy's overhead kick on 76 minutes as Ipswich piled on the pressure.
Posh substitute Gayle tested Henderson with a fierce shot from the edge of the area after good work from fellow debutant Thorne.
Gayle then raced clear from a tight angle, but he fired over with his right-foot, again good pace from the substitute. Olejnik then produced a fine save to tip a Murphy looping header over the crossbar.
McCann's stinging drive was parried away before three minutes of added time was signalled by the fourth official.
