Posh have signed Dagenham striker Dwight Gayle on-loan until January.

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has moved quickly to strengthen his squad following the departure of strikers Tyrone Barnett and Emile Sinclair this week by capturing Dagenham and Redbridge front man Dwight Gayle in a loan deal until January.

Gayle (22) has scored seven goals in 20 appearances this season for Dagenham including three in his last two games and will link up with his new team-mates on Wednesday.

The front man will remain at London Road until 1st January 2013, but will be able to feature in the New Years Day fixture with Barnsley at London Road.

Manager Darren Ferguson said:  'Dwight is young, has a lot of potential and we have watched him play many times. We have had good reports on him and I am looking forward to working with him.

'He has good pace, a decent spring and although he is predominately right-footed, he can use his left very well.

'He will be training with us on Wednesday and he will be involved on Saturday. I still think we need another striker to add to the squad and we will be looking at that before the loan window closes on Thursday,' Ferguson said.

Gayle will be speaking to PUTV on Wednesday.
