There were positives to take from the performance against the Premier League side at London Road

Premier League side Norwich City continued their warm-up for the new campaign with a 2-0 victory over Peterborough United at London Road in the latest pre-season friendly.

Tyrone Barnett squandered the first opportunity of this friendly on 12 minutes as a glorious cross from George Boyd picked the striker out, but he couldn't keep the ball down and skied his header over the crossbar.

At the other end, Bobby Olejnik made a routine stop to deny Steve Morrison's glancing header after an inviting cross from Wesley Hoolahan. Simeon Jackson cut inside from the left and fired wide on 27 minutes as Norwich came close to the breakthrough.

Nathaniel Knight-Percival headed wide following a deep McCann corner kick on the half hour mark. A moment of indecision between Zakuani and Olejnik allowed Steve Morrison to nip in moments later, but he fired over the crossbar.

The deadlock was broken on 33 minutes as a wayward defensive header was nodded back into the box and into the path of Steve MORRISON who made no mistake from close range.

Mendez-Laing saw a curling effort from distance go over the crossbar on 39 minutes as he moved more central to get on the ball.

Ryan Bennett replaced Russell Martin at the interval in the one substitution made ahead of the second period. Jackson flashed a shot inches past the upright on 50 minutes after cutting inside from the left.

Olejnik denied Hoolahan with his legs before Rudd dealt with a stinging effort from Barnett at the second attempt. Rudd made a better save to thwart Taylor on the hour mark to keep the score at 1-0 to the Canaries.

Nicky Ajose, who played 45 minutes against AFC Rushden on Friday evening, replaced Taylor with 20 minutes to go. Ajose sliced wide after being threaded through by Tomlin with a last ditch tackle by Ward putting the striker off.

It was 2-0 to the Canaries on 85 minutes as pass from Holt picked out substitute James VAUGHAN who rifled the ball into the roof of the net past Olejnik.
