Nathaniel Mendez-Laing is looking forward to friendly with Crawley

After almost three weeks of pre-season training, the Peterborough United squad will get the first taste of match action on Saturday afternoon when they face npower League One side Crawley Town at the Broadfield Stadium (3pm).

Winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing will get 45 minutes under his belt and admits that he can't wait for the matches to begin following his summer move from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

'It has been quite a while since I played a game so I am obviously looking forward to it. All of the boys are buzzing for the first friendly and hopefully it will be an enjoyable day. I have been working hard in training to get as fit as I can and now it is about getting match-fit.

'It hasn't taken me long to settle in, the boys have welcomed me into the squad and I have really enjoyed the training. To be honest, a lot of the lads were here when I was at the club before so that has made it easy for me to settle.

'The manager has showed a lot of faith in me and I will aim to repay that faith. He knows what I can do, he wants to me work hard and I can't wait to get started,' Mendez-Laing said.
