Premier League side Norwich City visit London Road on Saturday 28th July (3pm)

Peterborough United are in action at London Road for the first time in nearly three months on Saturday as Premier League side Norwich City visit for a pre-season friendly (3pm).

The Canaries, who are set to include former Posh defenders Russell Martin and Ryan Bennett in their squad, lost their manager Paul Lambert to Aston Villa in the summer, but have made a shrewd appointment in the form of Chris Hughton, who performed admirably at Newcastle United.

Bennett was placed on standby for the Olympic team after putting in some excellent performances for Norwich in the Premier League while Martin has been a model of consistency since making the move to Carrow Road when they were in League One.

Posh boss Darren Ferguson was full of praise for the pair of them and believes Norwich will provide a tough test for his players.

'Russell joined us from Wycombe Wanderers and helped us get promotion into the Championship. He has demonstrated that he can cope in one of the best league’s in Europe.

'I always felt that Benno would go on to bigger things and I think he will progress to the next level of international football. He has all of the attributes to be a top class defender.  Both lads did fantastically well for us and they deserve the success they have achieved.

'Norwich have some quality players and they will provide us with a tough test on Saturday. One or two of the players will get a bit longer on the pitch against Norwich, maybe an hour or so,' Ferguson said.

The game against Norwich is not all-ticket, but fans can purchase tickets in advance at the London Road Ticket Office or online at www.theposhtickets.com. Admission for the game is just £15 for adults and £5 for under 16s anywhere in the stadium (excluding hospitality areas).

Posh face Aston Villa on Wednesday 1st August and a Manchester United XI on Friday 10th August at London Road.
