Posh win F&C Performance of the week award for victory at Cardiff City.

The League Managers Association five-man Performance of the Week panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that this week, the F&C Investments Performance of the Week Award should go to Peterborough United following their excellent 2-1 away win against Cardiff City in the npower Championship on Saturday 15th December 2012.

Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson will receive a specially engraved crystal football in a presentation to commemorate the award on Friday afternoon.

Peterborough won their second F&C Investments Performance of the Week Award of the season, with an impressive display to end leaders Cardiff's perfect home record.

Michael Bostwick and Dwight Gayle were on the score sheet for the visitors and Rudy Gestede pulled back a late consolation.

After the match, Ferguson was delighted with the performance and result; 'We have beaten the best team in the league and also won at Hull so that shows we can beat any team in this league.

'It's a very good day. But we haven't been consistent enough this season. I have always believed in the players and maintained the confidence that we can get the job done - but we need to produce consistent performances.

'We played very well but we did so last week. The difference was we defended well too. We stuck to the game plan and deserved the win but we didn't finish them off. We were hanging on a bit at the end. But if we continue to perform like that we will be fine in this league,' Ferguson said.

Posh also won the weekly award for the victory at Hull City earlier in the campaign.
