Lee Tomlin scores late equaliser to earn Posh a draw with Stevenage.

A goal six minutes from time by Lee Tomlin earned Peterborough United a hard-fought 1-1 draw with League One side Stevenage, but an injury to Nathaniel Mendez-Laing in the opening quarter of the game will be a major concern for boss Darren Ferguson.

Ferguson's men were dealt a huge blow on 11 minutes as Nathaniel Mendez-Laing pulled up clutching his hamstring as he chased down a crossfield pass from Lee Frecklington. He was immediately replaced by Jonson Clarke-Harris.

Tyrone Barnett powered a header wide of the target on the quarter hour mark following a George Boyd corner kick as Posh came close to the breakthrough. A Michael Richens cross picked out substitute Jonson Clarke-Harris moments later, but he glanced his header wide of the target.

Lee Tomlin fired wide of the upright from 25-yards after good hold-up play by Clarke-Harris on 20 minutes as Posh continues to create the chances in front of goal. Clarke-Harris was looking lively in attack, his sharp turn and shot was well saved by Day on 24 minutes.

Michael Richens was delivering some excellent crosses into the centre, this time he picked out Barnett, whose downward header struck the inside of the post and out for a corner kick, suggesting that the goalkeeper Day had pushed it onto the woodwork.

The home side struck the crossbar on 32 minutes as Haber powered a header goalwards from close-range following a deep corner only to smack his effort against the frame of the goal. On the stroke of half-time, Brisley planted a header into the side-netting before the referee brought and end to the first period.

Boyd was denied a goal against his former club two minutes after the re-start after latching onto a fine pass from Barnett, but his right-footed effort was parried behind expertly by Day. Olejnik denied Morais at the other end, clutching the swerving effort with ease.

The home side opened the scoring on the hour mark as Greg TANSEY fired home from the edge of the area after an intelligent lay-off by Morais. Tomlin saw a free-kick tipped over the top by goalkeeper Day on 68 minutes after the lively Clarke-Harris was tripped on the edge of the area.

Posh drew themselves level on 84 minutes as Lee TOMLIN finished low past Day after a patient build-up from the Posh involving Boyd and Newell.
