Grant McCann has been taken off the transfer list.

Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson has revealed to theposh.com that midfielder Grant McCann has been taken off the transfer list.

McCann has been involved in the starting line-up in recent weeks and Ferguson confirmed that he is no longer available for transfer.

Ferguson said: 'Grant's attitude has been very good and he has been playing well so that is why I have made the decision.

'If he continues playing well then we may sit down about a new contract, but at the minute, he is off the list and we will see how things go.'

McCann was naturally pleased to be off the list and is hoping to continue his good start to the season.

'I feel I came back fit in pre-season and I wanted to get my head down, train hard and try and get into the team. I don't want to use the injury I had last season as an excuse, but I felt I came back too soon and you learn from that. I didn't play well in the second half of last season by my own admission.

'I am off the list, but I am not getting carried away. I just want to continue in the team and hopefully play well,' McCann said.
