Posh kick-off their npower Championship campaign at the King Power Stadium on Saturday (3pm).
Peterborough United open their npower Championship campaign at the King Power Stadium against Leicester City on Saturday afternoon (3pm).
Manager Darren Ferguson spoke to the press on Thursday and admitted he and the players are ready for the challenge that lies ahead.
'Obviously we would have loved to start the league campaign with a home fixture, but this is the closest game we could of possibly got away from home and I am sure we will take a good following of supporters and it should be a great atmosphere.
'Leicester have bought wisely over the summer, bringing in three players that I know well from Manchester United in Ritchie De Laat, Matty James and Danny Drinkwater. Nigel Pearson will have his team organised and they will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.
'It is about what we do. I took the positives from the 4-0 win over Southend on Tuesday night and we know what we need to do. It will be a far more difficult test for us. Both teams warmed up for the game with 4-0 victories over sides who reached the League Two play-offs last season,' Ferguson said.
In terms of team news, Ferguson confirmed that strikers Tyrone Barnett and Emile Sinclair are expected to be fit for the fixture, but Daniel Kearns, David Hibbert, Tommy Rowe and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing are ruled out due to injury.
Over 1,500 tickets for the game have been sold in advance for the fixture to Posh supporters. The game is not all-ticket, but there is a price increase on the day. Tickets can still be ordered for collection at London Road Stadium from www.theposhtickets.com, via the 24 hour hotline 0844 847 1934 and in person until 3pm on Friday.
