Jaanai The Match-Winner

Jaanai Gordon was the match-winner as the Peterborough United under 18s made it two wins from two with a 1-0 victory over local rivals Northampton Town.

Gordon came off the substitutes bench and scored with his first touch to down the Cobblers in an improved second half display from Gavin Strachan's men.

The first half was 45 minutes of few chances as Posh tried to get their passing game going, but after a half-time discussion between the players and the manager, the youngsters set about their task in the second period and dominated for long periods.

Levi Wright saw a powerful drive pushed aside by the Cobblers goalkeeper while Gordon saw an effort scrambled off the line. Posh Academy Manager Dave Robertson said: 'Overall, we are very happy with the victory and the performance, particularly in the second half.

'The statistics show we had an 83% passing success rate, which is excellent and it has been a good start to the campaign,' Robertson said.
