Cardiff City Under 21s v Posh Under 21s: Match Preview

Sam Gaughran

The Posh Under 21s are back in action on Friday night as they make the long journey to face Cardiff City (7pm).

The Peterborough United Under 21s return to Professional Development League action on Friday evening as Sam Gaughran's side visit Cardiff City (7pm), looking to take the positives from Tuesday afternoon's 3-3 draw with Bristol City at the Bespoke Builds Training Ground.

Kurtis Simmons scored a hat-trick against the Robins and he is expected to lead the line against the Bluebirds as he looks to add to his goal tally of seven across all competitions so far this season.

TEAM NEWS

It is expected to be a predominately Under 21s group that are on duty against the Bluebirds, although midfielder Donay O'Brien-Brady could continue to get minutes under his belt.

Oliver Arber, who has featured for both the Under 18s and Under 21s, is unlikely to feature to a slight injury, but it isn't expected to keep him out of action for too long. Fabian Claxton remains unavailable due to injury.

MANAGER QUOTES

"It will be a tough game for the group after playing only a few days ago and with the distance involved in the game, but we will go there and try and put in a positive performance against a strong Cardiff City side," Sam Gaughran said.

Under 21s Suffer Heavy Defeat To Cardiff City

Eddie Fox

The Posh Under 21s suffered a 6-0 defeat to a clinical Cardiff City side on Friday night at the Leckwith International Stadium.

The Peterborough United Under 21s were beaten by Cardiff City on Friday night in Professional Development League action with the Bluebirds too strong for a youthful Posh XI.

Sam Gaughran's side were second best on the night as Cardiff took advantage of defensive errors to take all three points with the final three goals coming inside the last quarter of the contest.

Gaughran said: "Cardiff are a good side and they showed it on the night, they were ruthless with their chances and we struggled to get a foothold in the game."
