Posh Women v Norwich City Women: Match Preview

PIMS

The Posh Women are back in Northern Premier League action on Wednesday night as Norwich City visit PIMS Park (7.45pm).

The Peterborough United Women are aiming for four straight league wins as they welcome Norwich City Women to PIMS Park in Northern Premier League action on Wednesday evening.

Jake Poole's side have enjoyed victories over Middlesbrough, Huddersfield Town and Hull City in the last few weeks and go into the double header with the Canaries (in league and cup) looking for another eye-catching three points.

The two sides meet again on Sunday in the FAWNL Cup with Posh without a fixture last weekend as their Women's FA Cup tie was postponed due an ongoing investigation following the Third Qualifying fixture between Coton Green and Lye Town. The winners will face Rugby Borough at home in the second round of the competition.

TEAM NEWS

Kayleigh Hines made her second debut for the club as a substitute at Hull City and will be in the squad once more, but Romy Saunders completed a loan move to Northampton Town ahead of the weekend in search of first team football. Saunders will remain with the Cobblers until December.

FROM THE MANAGER

"Norwich are another side that are established at the level, but we go into the game full of confidence. We wanted to play the game on Sunday, but I guess with what was looking like a three-game week, it is nice to be able to fully concentrate on this fixture. We are looking forward to the game under the lights at PIMS Park and hopefully the supporters can play their part," Jake Poole said.

Steggles Earns Posh Women Deserved Point

may

The Posh Women made it four games unbeaten in the Northern Premier League as a late Charlotte Steggles header earned a creditable point against Norwich City.

The Peterborough United Women secured a point on Wednesday evening as a header from substitute Charlotte Steggles earned a 1-1 draw with Norwich City at PIMS Park.

Steggles glanced home a corner kick from Lauren Wilshaw as two substitutes combined to secure a deserved point for Jake Poole's side who were competitive throughout against the Canaries.

It wasn't a game blessed with large amounts of quality on a tricky, wet surface, but Posh deserve a lot of credit for the way they battled against a full-time outfit.

Goalkeeper Neive Corry produced a superb point blank save on 10 minutes from a corner kick with Crista Ganado repelled at the other end after a snap-shot from 18-yards.

A cross from Keir Perkins just eluded Ellie May on 17 minutes before a powerful effort from Poppie Brown was well held by Young.

The visitors showed their defensive mettle to twice thwart top scorer Ellie May as Posh got themselves into some good positions before the break.

Wilshaw replaced Ganado at the break and her corners were a constant threat with May superbly denied by Young after Driscoll-King kept a set-piece alive.

The visitors opened the scoring on 64 minutes as KING found the bottom corner with a well-taken effort from just inside the box.

Kayleigh Hines saw a shot deflected wide of the target before the equaliser was found, STEGGLES glancing home from close-range after an excellent corner kick from Wilshaw.

Both sides had half chances to find a winner late on, but both will be pleased with the point.

Posh: Corry, Jenkins, Pitt, Driscoll-King, Perkins (sub Rai 77min), Bartlett (sub Steggles 77min), Brown (sub Reynolds 77min), Mears (sub Hines 71min), Ganado (sub Wilshaw 46min), May. Unused subs: Clarke, Osker.
