Shofowoke Hat-Trick Helps Under 18s Progress In Youth Cup

Posh Under 18s

Striker Bolu Shofowoke scored a hat-trick as the Posh Under 18s progressed into round three of the FA Youth Cup.

Bolu Shofowoke took his tally of goals for the season across all competitions and age groups to 19 after a hat-trick in the 6-0 win over Boldmere St Michaels in the second round of the FA Youth Cup at the Weston Homes Stadium.

The teenager terrorised the visitors with his pace and power and helped his side to a convincing victory with Patryk Sykut, Maxim Mlityalwa and an own goal completing the scoring.

The deadlock was broken on seven minutes as defender Ben Croot put through his own net from outside the box as he tried to intercept a through ball.

The lead was doubled on 39 minutes through Patryk SYKUT who stayed on his feet despite a challenge inside the box and coolly slotted a left-footed effort into the corner.

Posh had further chances in the first half with Sykut and Mlityalwa both going close before the tie was effectively over two minutes from the break when SHOFOWOKE took advantage of a poor back pass to toe-poke the ball into the bottom corner.

Like the first round victory over Lincoln City, any lingering doubts about the contest being alive was ended inside the first five minutes of the second half as SHOFOWOKE used his pace and anticipation to beat the defender to the ball and find the back of the net from just inside the box.

On 64 minutes, it was 5-0, this time Shofowoke the provider as he used his pace to get into the channel, round the keeper and square the ball across the box for MLITYALWA who made no mistake at the back post.

The scoring was completed by SHOFOWOKE who secured his hat-trick with a close-range finish after good work down the right from Harry Bushell and Benji McWilliams-Marcano.

Posh: Westcott, Ndonjang (Sub Bushell 65min), Joseph, Christoudias, Mendonca (sub Aikins 52min), Arber, Fox (sub Norville 82min), McWilliams-Marcano, Sykut (sub Crozier 65min), Shofowoke (sub Simmons 82min), Mlityalwa. Unused subs: Al-Sammour, Dagne.
