Bolu Shofowoke

Posh Under 21s continue their good form as they beat Fleetwood Town Under 21’s by 2-0  at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Bolu Shofowoke netted twice as the Peterborough United Under 21s made it four wins from five with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Fleetwood Town at the Weston Homes Stadium in Professional Development League action on Tuesday afternoon.

Posh started the game with most of the ball, and created the first effort of the game as the ball was worked to James Dornelly who saw his low effort gathered by the goalkeeper.

Sam Gaughran’s men got their reward  for an energetic start with 10 minutes on the clock, as Shofowoke raced through and beat the keeper from 12 yards out.

The game became more cagey and Fleetwood made it more difficult for the Posh side to control the play..  Posh nearly made it 2-0 but Mills’ cross was just out of reach from Lisbie.

There was a change at the start of the second half, as Klaidi Lolos was replaced by Patryk Sykut. Fleetwood  started the second half the better, and would have equalised if it wasn’t for the assistant referee calling an offside in the build up. The visitors continued to pile on the pressure, and hit the frame of the goal, as Costello got up highest but his headed effort hit the crossbar.

Posh began to get back on top as O’Brien-Brady found himself with space from distance, but his driven shot was narrowly wide. Posh earned an excellent opportunity to double their lead as Lisbie raced through after an O’Brien-Brady through ball, he beat the keeper to the ball and was upended in the process.  SHOFOWOKE stepped up and made no mistake from the spot.

Posh nearly made it three as Mendonca climbed highest from a Harley Mills corner, but his powerful header was cleared off the line. A carbon copy of the first corner resulted in Noah Freeman finding himself free but his header was just wide of the target.

Posh held on and kept another clean sheet. The next game for Sam Gaughran’s men is Tuesday 21st October, where they host Sheffield United Under 21’s.
